چکیده مقاله:

Background: Retinoid-related orphan receptors (RORs) are members of the nuclear receptors. It was reported that cholesterol and its sulfonated derivatives might function as RORa ligands. Other ligands defined to bind to RORa are melatonin and thiazolidinediones. Some studies have suggested that RORa interacts with both nuclear co-repressors as well as co-activators of genes. Also some studies show that RORα may have protective role against oxidative stress and as tumor suppressor in breast and hepatic cancer.Materials and Methods: 100embedded paraffin tissues blocks from gastric adenocarcinoma patients and 100 blocks from normal individuals ranging between 30-70 ages provided from pathology department of Bou-Ali hospital, Sari Iran, Protein expression of RORα was investigated by immunohistochemistry with usage primary specific and secondary antibodies and immunodetection was made by diaminobenzidine procedure. Results: According to study s results RORα receptors expressed predominantly in gastric tumor tissues which were significant compared with normal tissues and this expression in tumor tissues was correlated with grade of tumor.Discussion: Thus, it can be concluded that RORα might be important in gastric cancer and might reflect melatonin-mediated inhibition of cell invasion and proliferation of gastric cancer cells
