چکیده مقاله:

Ferric nitrilotriacetate (Fe-NTA) is a potent oxidant and free radical generating agent. In this communication we report that topical application of Fe-NTA to mice skin exacerbates edema and skin tumorigenesis. Different groups of Albino Swiss mice treated with 7, 12-Dimethylbenz (a) anthracene (DMBA), croton oil or Fe-NTA for skin tissue inflammation and carcinogenesis.Fe-NTA dose dependently (6, 9 or 12 mg)/ 200 acetone/ mouse causes increased in edema size, hyperplasia, leukocytes infiltration. Also tumor incidences in group of animals receiving Fe-NTA, DMBA and croton oil were significantly increased. In conclusion our data suggest that Fe-NTA activates croton oil-induced pathogenic inflammation through release of arachidonic acid metabolites and oxidative stress generated by Fe-NTA is responsible for the croton oil-mediated skin carcinogenesis. However, the involvement of Fe-NTA on skin pathogenesis and tumorigeneis remains elusive and needs more experimentations.
