چکیده مقاله:

Background and Objective: The use of implants to restore the normal function of teeth in fully or partial edentulous patients is widely used and has a very high success rate. However, many studies describe the presence of bruxism as an obstacle to this method of treatment. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effect of bruxism on the success of dental implants and to describe strategies for managing these patients.Search Method: The search used the combined search terms bruxism, implant dental and management , complication in the PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Oral Health for databases in May 2018.Finding: bruxism causes excessive occlusion loads on dental implants and their structures, which can lead to loss of bone around the implant or even failure of the implant. Therefore, bruxism is often a risk factor, or even an impediment to the treatment of an implant. The risk of failure of implant therapy is greater for patients with bruxism, because muscle strength increases and the number of cycles of force is also increased. Therefore, when the dentist has noticed additional forces on the implant, the treatment plan needs to be changed, and specific plans are required to prevent the impact of these forces on the final implant. Conclusion: Management of patients with bruxism is important for the recipient of implant therapy. The success of implant therapy in patients with bruxism involves the use of occlusal devices to control the forces applied to the teeth, placement of implants in the desired location and their proper number, appropriate diameter and length, and appropriate design considerations for the restoration.
