چکیده مقاله:
Background & Aim: Skin is considered as an important sensory organ and any skin changes and abnormalities can impair skin integrity.Therefore, wound healing and speeding up the healing have attracted the attention of many researchers. Complementary medicine consists of beliefs and practices that are used by the patient to improve the health and individuals’ quality of life.The use of Complementary medicine, including medicinal herbs, have been common among people with skin problems in recent decades .According to the WHO report, 80 percent of people in the world prefer to use herbal extracts or their active ingredients as primary health care. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effect of medicinal plants on the healing of non-infectious skin wounds.Methods and Materials: In this systematic review, the information obtained by searching the keywords such as complementary medicine, medicinal plants, non-infectious wounds and skin wounds healing was extracted from websites such as Google, NOPA, Elmnet, SID and Civilica. Then the results were examined. Final articles were selected based on Cochrane protocol.Results: Studies show that the medicinal plants lead to a significant increase in the percentage of wound healing and a number of plants with their antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, have a significant role in the wound healing process.Conclusion: Herbal medicine is one of the most common methods of traditional medical treatment that has been put on the agenda in most countries of the world including Iran and it can play an essential role in wound healing.
