Corrosion protection of AA2024-T3 using sol-gel coatings containing anodic and cathodic inhibitor doped containers

In the present study, corrosion protection coatings were prepared and evaluated containing a combination of containers with cationic and anionic inhibitors. For this purpose, NaY zeolite and Zn-Al LDH with Ce3+ and 2-mercaptobenzothiazole were selected as cationic and anionic inhibitors, respectively. The morphology and composition of micro / nano containairs were studied using analytical methods that confirm the successful loading of the inhibitors used. Ce3 + and MBT were successfully loaded into LDH container and NaY zeolites. The structure of Zn-Al LDHs doped with MBT and non-doped was evaluated using SEM. SEM micrographs of non-doped LDH (Figure 1A) and stupefaction with MBT (Figure 1B) show that the prepared LDHs have sheet-like morphology that preserved by anion exchange, as reported in references. The combination of the two inhibitors has a constructive effect on the active protection of AA2024-T3 sheets. The addition of single-inhibitor doped containers to the sol-gel hybrid coating and water-based epoxy coating provided active protection for the AA2024-T3 coated substrate. Coating loaded with NaY-Ce showed (Fig. 2.) the highest values of |Z|0.1 in the early stages of measurement, however, with immersion for a long time, there was a sharp drop in |Z|0.1. The values of | Z|0.1 of the coating containing the combination of the doped containers with the inhibitor becomes a straight line after one day, that | Z|0.1 value exceeded than | Z|0.1 values of NaY-Ce coating after immersion in the electrod for one week. The obtained results show improved corrosion protection when a combination of two doped resins with different inhibitors is used. However, the combination of the doped containers with the inhibitor in the above-mentioned coatings resulted in improvement of the active protection of the substrate, which confirms the synergy between them.
