چکیده مقاله:

Several crop simulation models have been devised worldwide for a wide variety of crops which have been calibrated and validated under varying environments. Well documented dynamic crop simulation models can facilitate applications in research understanding, crop genotype improvement, crop management, production forecasting in relation to weather variability, climate change impact assessment, evaluation of cropping systems and as tools in education and training. The present paper aims to exemplify the applicability of DSSAT based CERES-, GRO- and SUBSTOR-models as research and agronomic tools, and in climate change impact studies in Indian Punjab using wheat, rice, soybean, groundnut and potato crops. The CERES-Wheat model applications revealed that the period between mid-februarys to mid-March was most critical for optimum growth and yield of wheat in Punjab.
