COMPARISON OF THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF PEOPLE UNDER TREATMENT (METHADONE) WITH NON-DRUG USERS (GROUP THERAPY), AMPHETAMINE ADDICTED

Background and Aim : Impaired function and quality of life are one of the serious problems in addicted people s livesand can have an important impact on the life of the person and his relativesdifferent treatments have different effects on the quality of life of patients. The aim of this study was to compare the quality of life of people treated with methadone with amphetamine addicted non-drug patients.Methods : Method: This descriptive and comparative study was performed on a sample of 40 drug addicts from Shiraz Medical Center selected by purposeful sampling (20 people who were quitting with methadone and 20 of those under treatment. Treatment group therapy). The WHOQOL World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOL) was a measurement tool. Data were analyzed by SPSS software using Independent T-testResults : Results: The results showed that the quality of life of addicted non-drug users (group therapy) with the quality of life of drug addicts (methadone) significantly differed. Addicted non-drug users (group therapy) had a higher quality of lifeConclusion : Conclusion: The interpretation of this result means that non-medicinal interventions (group therapy) have an important role in improving the quality of life of the addicts leaving the treatment centers in order to cope with functional problemsand it is possible to use these interventions to positively influence their quality of life
