THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY ON INCREASING MARITAL INTIMACY IN ADDICTED WIVES

Background and Aim : The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) on increasing marital intimacy of addicted wives. Methods : The research method was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest design with control group. The statistical population of the study was the wives of addicted men who referred to the Pars drug addiction center in Ahwaz. A total of 40 people were selected from available statistical population and randomly assigned 20 subjects to 20 control and control groups. Data were collected by Thompson and Walker Intimate Inventory (1983) and analyzed using single-variable covariance analysis. Results : The findings showed that the mean post-test in the marital intimacy variable increased compared to the pre-test.Conclusion : The results of covariance analysis showed that treatment of acceptance and commitment lead to increased marital intimacy of addicted people s wives. Therefore, the treatment of acceptance and commitment affects the marital affinity of the wives of addicts
