چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Opioid and stimulant substance abuse is a disorder that can affect each community. That is why it is necessary to identify factors involved in. In this context, this study aimed to compare the family functions and MMPI clinical scales in the opioid and stimulant substance abusers and normal males. Methods : The method was retrospective (causal-comparative).The sample included 40 opioid substance abusers, 38 stimulant substance abusers and 40 individuals in the control group who were selected by the available sampling. For the data collection, the questionnaires of Demographic Data, Family Assessment Device (FAD) and 71-question MMPI test, and for data analysis, the Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA), Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) And Multivariant Regression were used. Results : The results of the Analysis of Variance showed significant differences in the affective involvement and behavioural control variables among the 3 groups. Also, MANOVA test results showed a significant difference among 3 groups. The differences between the normal group and stimulant group as well as the difference between the normal group and the opioid group in terms of subscales of the affective involvement and behavioural control are significant. In addition, in the evaluation of MMPI clinical scales, MANOVA showed a significant difference among the 3 groups. The pairwise comparison of groups showed that in most subscales, the stimulus group, opioid group and normal group obtained higher scores, respectively. Also, the pairwise difference between the opioid and stimulant groups, opioid and normal groups as well as stimulant and normal ones is significant. Conclusion : The difference of family function is significant in 3 groups and the behavioural control subscales can predict the severity of symptoms. Also, MMPI Clinical Scales are significant in 3 groups, showing the impact of these factors on the propensity to opioid and stimulant substance abuse.
