INVESTIGATING EFFECTIVENESS OF ACCELERATED EXPERIENTIAL DYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY (AEDP) ON CHANGING THE STYLE OF ADULTS’ ATTACHMENT AND SEXUAL INTIMACY IN COUPLES WHO ARE DEPENDENT ON ALCOHOL

Background and Aim : Alcoholism is one of the abnormalities and basis of dependency that causes destructive effects in individual, couples’ relationship, matrimony and social fields. Therefore, present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) on changing the style of adults’ attachment and sexual intimacy in couples who are dependent on alcohol. Methods : semi- research’s design was pretest-post test randomized group design with control group. Statistic population contained all couples who are dependent on alcohol and referred to Tehran private center of psychology and psychiatry in second half of the year (2018) and sample’s number is 28 that 14 participants with complete satisfaction were in research group and other 14 participants were control group. Methods that were used in this research are Revised Adult Attachment Scale (RAAS) and Bagarozzi Intimacy Questionnaire. Research group received 90 minutes in every 8 sessions of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and control group were in waiting list. Data were analyzed with Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA). Results : Findings showed that Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) in post-test step improved style of adults’ attachment and increased sexual intimacy in dependent couples on alcohol who were in research group. Conclusion : Findings’ results showed that Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) can be used as effective therapeutic method for improving style of adults’ attachment and increasing sexual intimacy in couples who are dependent on alcohol
