THE EFFECT OF EXPOSURE TO ALCOHOL USE IN MOVIES ON ADOLESCENT DRINKING: AREVIEW ARTICLE STUDY

Background and Aim : Alcohol use is a global health problem. Exposure to alcohol content in movies has been shown to be associated with adolescent use of alcohol, including earlier onset. But Less is known about factors influencing immediate effects movie alcohol exposure on drinking. The aim of this study was the effect of exposure to alcohol use in movies on adolescent drinking.Methods : This study reviewed the scientific references of authentic databases and journals, including Medline, Pubmed, Scopuse, SID, Web of science, Clinicalkey and Iranian Databases. Overall,96 scientific studies conducted during 2010- 2019 were collected.Results : According to surveys The link between alcohol use in movies and binge drinking was robust. Gender, age, watching movies with friends, hours of watching movies, Alcohol consumption by the main character of the film, wrong knowledge on the dangers of alcohol, , wrong cultural context and alcohol advertising were the most factors that was associated with alcohol binge. Conclusion : Results suggest that movies play a unique role in contributing to initiation of early drinking alcohol, and highlight the importance of considering these exposures in research on adolescent risk behavior
