چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: Considering that Cesarean section is one of the most common surgical procedures in women, in this study, we aimed to compare the maternal and neonatal complications of the first vaginal delivery and Cesarean section in Isfahan population during 2015-2017.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we evaluated maternal and neonatal complications of vaginal delivery and Cesarean section in mothers aged 18 to 35 years old, who were pregnant for the first time, had an infant with a birth weight of 2500 to 4000 grams and delivered term infants. The data involved all newborns in Isfahan from 2015 to 2017 and was extracted from the safe childbirth registry system. We then compared these complications in both vaginal delivery and Cesarean delivery methods before and after the removal of fetal distress. Results: Based on the results of this study before and after the removal of fetal distress, the maternal and fetal outcomes and the Apgar score in the first minute after vaginal delivery were significantly better than Cesarean section. The need for resuscitation in vaginal delivery was significantly less than Cesarean delivery (P <0.05). However, there was no significant difference between the two groups regarding the Apgar scores in the 5th minute (P> 0.05).Conclusion: Despite the removal of fetal distress from cases of Cesarean delivery as a confounding variable, the results of vaginal birth, such as neonatal and maternal outcomes, the need for resuscitation and the Apgar score in the first minute were better than Cesarean section.
