Review Factors Affecting Menopause Age

Introduction: Menopausal age is considered a health indicator, so better understanding of its causative factors has important clinical and epidemiological implications. Identifying the factors associated with early and late menopause are important because menopausal age is associated with the risk of starting several chronic diseases. The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting menopausal age.Methods: A total of 48 articles were found by searching the databases such as science direct, PubMed, Google scholar, iranmedex, Sid and using keywords menopause, associated factor and age from 2000 to 2019.Results: Variables such as marital status, level of education, and employment status as demographic and social indicators were significantly associated with menopausal age. Medium age menopause in Women who unmarried with lower income, lower socioeconomic status, and tobacco use are significantly was lower than others. Regular exercise is one of the factors that influence menopause.Discussion and conclusion: Because of the importance of menopause and its association with some disorders and mortality in women, this issue should be considered as an epidemiological factor in the community, Since menopause age in Iranian women is much more lower than it in advanced countries, Interventions such as education on smoking and regular exercise, policies to improve socioeconomic status and increase women s education can be helpful.
