چکیده مقاله:
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy are different from all other forms of Psycho-therapeutic media in terms of their approach and process. They interact with the human psyche that is otherwise intangible and indefinable. It is influenced by the therapist and their expertise in the school of thought that he follows, whether it is psychoanalytically oriented or new age cognitive behavioral therapy oriented.Indian psyche is different and at the same time unique in different ways as it is influenced by multiple factors starting from the influx of foreign invaders leading to a multicultural population and also by the trends in globalization and liberalization that are making their impact globally. Hence, the mental health issues presented in our clinics are also different from that of the western world. In this scenario, how is it possible to fit our clients to psychotherapeutic modalities developed in the western setting The role of family, society, and the way in which an Indian copes with his problems are all factors that need to be addressed separately as the problems are unique to the setting. Indianization of hypnosis and hypno-therapeutic techniques can be a major step in overcoming this problem. We have parallels in our own scripts and culture. Adapting psychotherapeutic models, specifically hypno-techniques using these parallel, typically Indian models can go a long way in helping hypno-therapy to earn a foothold in the Indian setting.
