چکیده مقاله:
Background: Gated SPECT is an accurate method for assessment of myocardial perfusion (MP), left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF), end-diastolic volume (EDV) and end-systolic volume (ESV). According to recent studies that mentioned the effect of gender on LV function, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of gender on the Gated SPECT images of patients with heart diseases at the Raah-e-aseman Nuclear Medicine Center. Methods: In this research, Gated SPECT studies of 421 patients that were underwent myocardial perfusion scan in the early quarter of the launch of the center were used. Subsequently, based on interpretation of physician, scans with abnormal diagnosis (100 males and 79 women) were separated from the rest of the scans and quantitative information of left ventricular for each patient were extracted and then the comparison was made based on gender. Results: There was a significant difference in end systolic and diastolic volumes (ESV & EDV) between males and females, while gender had no significant effect on left ventricle ejection fraction. Results demonstrate that despite the good ejection fraction, the end systolic and end diastolic volume has been very low. The mean end systolic and end diastolic volumes for females respectively were 23.88 and 68.27, (EF=60.76%), while for males were, 38.88 and 90.6 (EF=57.19%).Conclusion: According to the findings, it can be concluded in men despite a similar amount of EF to women, ESV & EDV was higher. Women also get ischemia in the higher ejection fraction than men.
