چکیده مقاله:

Background: Entomological surveillance is a key factor in alerting authorities to possible outbreaks of Aedes-borne diseases such as Dengue Fever, Chickengunia and Zika Vius. Objectives: The objective of this study was to monitoring the presence of Aedes mosquitoes at the points of entry of southern Tehran.Materials and Methods: This study was carried out from March 2018 until late September 2019 after selecting fixed sampling sites such as: Rail road station (35°65 N, 51°40 E) and Jonoob Terminal (35°65 N, 51°41 E). The location coordinates of the sampling sites were mark and registered with Global Positioning System (GPS) device, then the digital maps of the high risk areas were drawn using Arc Map 10.5software. In this study mosquitoes larvae and pupae were collected from larval habitats, and 30 fixed standard ovitraps, and identified in Aedes insectary, Medical entomology and Vector control, School of Public Health, Tehran University of Medical Sciences by valid systematic keys. Results: Generally, 689 larvae were identified comprises; Culex pipiens Linnaeus, Cx. theileri Theobald and Culiseta longiareolata Macquart . Culex pipiens with 81% was the most abundant species. Conclusion: This is the first mapping study in southern Tehran for predicting areas with the possible presence of Aedes species. A mapping study by using geographic information system along with field sampling in other areas of Tehran capital town can be conducted based on these results. Also, further and complementary mapping and modelling studies are suggested in other neighboring provinces of Tehran
