چکیده مقاله:

Background and Objectives: The GES-type family of β-lactamase is classified as Ambler Class A plasmid-encoded β-lactamases . The aim of our study was to investigate the prevalence of GES type class A carbapenemases in Klebsiella pneumoniae strains, isolated from sanandaj city, Iran. Materials and Methods: 40 Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates were isolated from clinical samples including blood, urine, wound, and other fluids in the hospitals of Sanandaj city, Iran. After confirmation of isolates by microbiological standard tests, polymerase chain reactions (PCR) assay were performed to identify and analyze the blaGES gene. Results: For all clinical isolates, PCR was performed. None of this clinical isolates were GES-producing Klebsiella pneumonia Conclusions: the results of previous and the present works show that the GES-producing Klebsiella pneumonia has not been present in Sanandaj, Iran.
