Identification of Social Factors Affecting Intra-city Driving Accidents from the Viewpoints of Drivers Sample of Shiraz City

Background: The use of a car in urban travel has a dual consequence, on the one hand, creates a relative welfare of the occupants and, on the other hand, has become one of the issues and challenges facing urban management. One of the important consequences of a small increase in the use of a car, an increase in traffic accidents and, consequently, injury, personal injury and state aids. If we consider driving as a social behavior and behavior, then this behavior can be considered socio-cultural and personality dimensions. Driving due to its nature and content is itself a function of various factors, one of the most important of which is social factors. In this paper, we seek to identify the social factors affecting traffic accidents in the city from the viewpoint of drivers in Shiraz.Methods: The method used in this study is a field method and a survey technique. The research instrument was a researcher-made questionnaire completed by respondents. The statistical population of the study is all drivers aged 18 years and above in Shiraz. According to available logistic facilities, 240 of them were randomly selected as the statistical sample. To validate the items, formal credentials were used and the reliability of Cronbach s alpha was used.Results: The descriptive findings of the research showed that the average age of the respondents is 35 years and the standard deviation is 4 years. The highest rate of education is among diploma respondents and more than 76 percent of male respondents. The inferential findings of the research showed that there is a meaningful relationship between cultural capital, social capital, socioeconomic status, rule of law and traffic driving laws, meaning that as much as possible, the added variables are added to the rules of driving.Conclusion: Considering the very important influence of social factors on the observance of driving laws, it is necessary to pay attention to the social variables through socialization resources and the mechanism of increasing cultural, social and legal capital among drivers in the agenda of officials and planners to be placed.
