Disciplinary Differences of Altmetric Indicators in the SAGE Scientific Database

Objectives: The study aims to survey disciplinary differences of altmetric indicators of research outputs in the SAGE scientific database in the three subject categories and their research impacts.Method of Investigation: The study is an applied research with descriptive-analytical approach conducted by altmetric techniques, using Altmetric Bookmarklet tool. The significant relationship between altmetric data and citation data , and significant difference between altmetric score and various subject categories were tested statistically.Achievements: There is no significant relationship between altmetric scores and citation performance in the all surveyed subject categories. Health Science has the first rank in terms of altmetric scores among the other subject categories. Results can be fruitful in making decisions of policy makers and funders to boost collaboration between societies and scientific outputs via social media.
