چکیده مقاله:

Background: The pulmonary valve is the most common valve replaced in the congenital population. Although primary repair is the most preferred strategy in many congenital heart defects (CHD) and in any ages but after few years due to occurrence of sever pulmonary valve insufficiency and right ventricular dysfunction pulmonary valve replacement is inevitable. The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of PVR in Imam Reza Hospital. Materials and Methods: A cross- sectional study undergone on data of all children who had history of PVR in age less than 20 years old from September 2001 to November 2018 at Imam-Reza Hospital of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Data analyzed statistically. Results: From 40 cases 23 were male. The mean age and weight of surgery was 13.53 + 6.68 years and 31 + 21.77 Kilograms respectively. Most cases have undergone PVR after school age, except ten cases. The most common CHD was TOF (75 %) and then PS. The type of replaced valve was bioprosthetic in all cases except one them. The most common bioprosthetic valves were homograft then contegra valves. The mean of valve size was 23.83+ 2.69 mm and 25 mm in exchanged reoperated valves. Two cases had reoperation of pulmonary valve due to restenosis of replaced valves (5 %). We had not any mortality. Conclusion: Although PVR is a good, safe and lifesaving cardiac surgery but further studies especially long-term follow up and multicentric studies is needed.
