چکیده مقاله:

In recent years, towed underwater vehicles have intensively been developed to reduce human dangers for many applications such as mining and environmental research. These vehicles have many other applications, including scientific exploration, assembly, inspection and repair of undersea structures. The motion instability is an important issue that occurs during the operation of towed underwater vehicles. Thereupon, predicting the dynamic behavior of a towing system (consisting buoy, cable and underwater vehicle) is important during the vehicle s design and operation phases. In this paper, dynamic behaviors of a towing system are investigated using boundary element solver package, ANSYS Hydrodynamic. A buoy geometry and an underwater vehicle design are probed to find the motions of this system under the effects of Persian Gulf waves. Two different wave climate conditions are also studied to find the effects of wave heights on the instabilities of towed vehicle. In this context, the translational and rotational motions of a towed underwater system are obtained. For generality, the body displacement are comprised in six degrees of freedom. Furthermore, some numerical simulation results are compared with the experimental data to demonstrate the validity of the solution method.
