Investigating the indicators of smart growth with an emphasis on increasing tourist attraction (Case study of Dubai)

The rapid expansion of cities is one of the main urban development issues in developing and developing countries. This growth pattern after the Second World War has been urbanized and has affected urban policies and environmental issues; therefore, planners have focused on sustainable development and smart growth to reduce urban sprawl. The purpose of this study is to adapt intelligent growth indices and to study and analyze its common principles in Dubai. The research method is descriptive-analytical and library method is used to collect data. The results of these analyzes indicate that the idea of sustainable development and intelligent growth such as compactness, neighborhood, green space, participation ... in the city of Dubai is emerging. Dubai s goal of realizing the smart city is to improve the quality of life of residents, improve health services, promote environmental quality, smart mobility (reducing traffic congestion and empowering the intelligent transportation system) and e-government services that are transparent and efficient; by upgrading infrastructure Smart has increased the attraction of tourism and the prosperity of its tourism industry. In this regard, the principles, strategies, and economic, social and environmental benefits of intelligent growth, while some criticisms of it, including increasing the cost of air pollution, increasing the cost of public services, lowering purchasing power and ….
