چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Homework is one of the jobs that involves repetitive movements and a variety of physical contact stresses, since the prevalence of MSDs is aggravated by factors such as repetition, severity and duration of work and high workload, body and mind can interact with one another. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between general health and mental workload with the prevalence of MSDs in housewives in Damghan city. Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, which was conducted at a time interval, 200 housewives were randomly assigned to the study. Required data were extracted from demographic information, Cornell (CMDQ), general health (GHQ28) and mental workload (NASA-TLX) questionnaires. The relationship between variables was assessed by using U-Mann-Whitney and Spearman correlation coefficient in SPSS-22 software were evaluated and the results were expressed. Results: The results showed that the highest MSDs were in the waist (48%), left knee (34.5%), right knee (33.5%) and neck (31.5%), respectively. The total score for mental health and general health questionnaires was (19.05 ± 8.34) and (12.21 ± 52.16) respectively. The Spearman correlation coefficient showed that there was a significant correlation between mental workload and general health as well as MSDs with general health and mental workload. Also the Spearman correlation coefficient showed that general health with demographic characteristics such as age and marital status, mental workload with age, weight and height, as well as MSDs with age, height, and weight were significant. The U-Mann-Whitney test showed that general health and MSDs with history of disease and level of education as well as mental workload had a significant relationship with marital status and level of education (P <0.05).Conclusion: Considering the results indicate that there is a significant relationship between high prevalence of MSDs and mental workload and general health in housewives, therefore, providing educational programs and designing appropriate ergonomic tools to improve existing status, it can reduce MSDs and mental workload and increase general health in these individuals.
