چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) comprise a set of economic, social and environmental objectives that will not be achieved without intersectoral coordination. The world health organization’s (WHO) commission on social determinants of health (SDH) has focused on health-related SDGs and recommended a complex form of intersectoral actions to reduce health inequalities. This study aim to assess the SDH-related challenges of achieving the sustainable development goals.Method: Fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) was conducted to identify causal conditions linking to sustainable development across 129 countries. The outcome was global SDG index ranking. The potential causal conditions according to the SDH conceptual framework were level of country economic development, good governance, education and training efficiency, availability of health-system resources and income inequality. The data at country level were obtained from the different international data sources, during 20152018-.Results: Sufficiency analysis indicated one causal pathway to sustainable development. The overall consistency of this pathway was 0.96 and the coverage score was 0.72. The pathway included high level of economic development, good governance and education efficiency, specified the combination of potentially causal conditions that was sufficient to explain high level of sustainable development. The case of IRAN with a low level of education and training efficiency (fuzzy score=0.46), lack of good governance, and relatively high level of economic development (fuzzy score=0.72) indicated a configuration linked to relatively low level of sustainable development (fuzzy score=0.4).Conclusion: Structural determinants of health that highlighted by WHO commission on social determinants of health should be considered when assessing the SDGs achievement at the national level.
