The Idea of Love and Care in Tobias Wolff’s Say Yes

The paper’s focus is on the meaning of love and its implications in Say Yes by Tobias Wolff. My aim is to argue that the husband in this short story suffers from a misconception about love. The problem with him is that he sets much store by the routinization of care element in love. Furthermore, for him, the occurrence of love is contingent upon the fulfilment of certain requirements which contraindicates the unconditionality of love. The ending of the story suggests the likelihood of change in his attitude.
