Stress Echocardiography

From the first concept of using stress echocardiography in 1979, this method has been accepted as a valuable tool for detection of myocardial ischemia, and has now widely used in many centers.It is based on detection of regional wall motion abnormality during exercise or pharmacological stress.It is also can be used for indications other than coronary artery disease, such as assessment of myocardial viability, valvular heart disease or cardiomyopathies. New echocardiography modalities such as strain , strain rate imaging and speckle tracking echocardiography areConsidered as sensitive markers of myocardial ischemia and maybe useful in the quantification of inducible ischemia.
