چکیده مقاله:

Heat transfer devices have been utilized for conversion and recovery of heat in many industrial and domestic applications. Heat transfer enhancement techniques commonly reduce the thermal resistance either by enhancing the effective heat transfer surface area or bygenerating turbulence. One method involves the use of vortex generators (VGs) to produce stream-wise and transverse vortices in the main flow. In the present work, as the first part of project, the influence of the insert type (i.e. perforations, vortex-generators, and theircombination) for water as working fluid are evaluated. Inthe second part of the project, the effect of inserts number for simultaneous using of vortex generator and perforation on performance of a rectangular channel is examined. The inserts are placed as one in between (one wing and one perforation) with four different numbers of 4, 8, 12 and 14 on a plate that is embedded in the middle of the test section of the channel with the Reynolds number over the range of 4000 to 10000 under constant wall temperature boundary condition. The governing equations are discretized using finite volume method by considering steady-state, turbulent regime, andincompressible fluid. The results reveal that the channel with the VGs has the highest values of Nu number and friction factor, and the channels with the combination of perforation and VG and perforation alone come in the second and third, respectively. Also the highestperformance index is obtained with 4 inserts at Re=10000.
