چکیده مقاله:

One of the major challenges in dialysis and hemodialysis patients is the pain experienced by the insertion of a hemodialysis needle in the fistula site. When the pain is well managed, patients can easily take the needle into their fistula and thereby improve their quality of life. Patients comfort in dialysis is essential during hemodialysis for long-term compliance. Therefore, the use of pain relief in these patients is important. Therefore, aromatherapy as a non-prescriptive method, with due regard to the positive effects on the body, mind and soul, can be a suitable method for reducing pain. With these interpretations, the aim of this study is to investigate the effect of Aromatherapy on Pain needle insertion at the fistula site in dialysis patients.Material and Methods: The reviews was conducted in English, with the key words Needle insertion, Hemodialysis fistulas, Pain, Aromatherapy in Cochrane Central Registers of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), MEDLINE (Ovid) and EMBASE (Ovid) from 2007 to 2017. The criteria for the selection of studies included a clinical trial with the control group, access to the full text of the articles, publication of the periodical papers. The full text of the articles related to human clinical trials and the results of the studies were independently reviewed by the two researchersFindings: 8 of the study had entry criteria. The results showed that patients undergoing aromatherapy hemodialysis sessions underwent a significant reduction in pain compared with the control group. In one study, it was found that patients who received lavender aromatherapy through oxygen mask for three times a week during hemodialysis sessions felt less pain during needle entry. This effect of reducing pain can be due to the psychological impact of the aromatherapy. Conclusion: Taken together with the findings of the study, it can be concluded that the aromatherapy is an effective way to reduce pain after insertion of the needle into the fistula in hemodialysis patients. On the other hand, because of existing problems and a low cost of aroma, it is recommended that this method be used as a complementary therapy in the practice of common pain relief in grocery and training.
