In the current study the effectiveness of hydrogen-addition on the performance of an SI engine using a gasoline-ethanol blend is investigated numerically. After a model simulation and validation of simulated model, engine performance is evaluated while using pure gasoline and a gasoline-ethanol fuel blend. In the next step, in order to improve the thermal efficiency, reduce the amount of brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) and have a lower gas temperature in the combustion chamber, which leads to a reduction in brake specific hydrocarbon (BSHC) and brake specific CO2 (BSCO2), hydrogen is added to the gasoline– ethanol blend. The results show that the hydrogen can boost the brake power efficiency, moderate the BSFC, and decrease the maximum temperature of combustion chamber we results in a lower amount of BSHC and BSCO2
