چکیده مقاله:
Background: The main cause of primary hyperparathyroidism is parathyroid adenoma. Primary hyper parathyroidism in many number of cases is asymptomatic, however in occasional patient , chronic secondary hyper parathyroidism initiated chronic hypercalcemia and lead to metastatic calcifications in many soft organs including breast tissue. The metastatic calcifications in chronic primary hyper parathyroidism are rare. Here we describe a case of metastatic calcifications of both breasts in a woman with parathyroid adenoma Case presentation: A 37-year-old healthy woman presented at our hospital with both breasts masses. Physical examination showed mobile, non-tender nodules. Laboratory findings demon strated hypercalcemia, hypophosphatemia, and increase in parathyroid hormone levels. Bi lateral mamograghy revealed numerous coarse calcifications. Thyroid gland scan was in favour of left lower parathyroid gland adenoma. Patient underwent left lower parathyroidectomy. The histopathologic findings confirmed parathyroid adenoma diagnosis. The patient was disease free in the following 13 months. Conclusion: Although the metastatic calcifications in chronic primary hyperÂ-parathyroidism are rare in regular clinical practice, for definite diagnosis and ruled out of another differential diagnosis, awareness of clinicians and pathologists about this lesion is important and necessary.
