Connecting Communities and Cultures through Tourism; A Study on Isfahan, Iran –Hyderabad India

Cultural heritage is main a contributor for the development of tourism. And tourism is a major growth engine for the development of economy for many countries; culture is playing an important role in connecting and strengthening the cultural relations among various cultures and communities of different countries. It was insisted particularly in the sustainable development goals, particularly the goal number eight of sustainable cities and communities and goal number sixteen of peace and justice can be achieved to some extent through tourism. In the context of India and Iran the cities like Hyderabad in India and Isfahan in Iran are the sister concerned cities and Hyderabad is planned on the lines of Isfahan, having lot of similarities between two cities in terms of food, art, architecture, fairs and festivals, etc., It is in this context the paper explores how and what are the past events occurred connecting two countries, and also argues about the potential opportunities, that we have for the development of tourism and strengthening the cultural relations through tourism between two cities and countries. The study of conducted by using qualitative data through expert interviews. Study suggests that there are various possible and potential areas to connect the two cities through tourism.
