Desert is arid region with vast sand dunes, scorching heat with less vegetation and animals. It may be hot or cold; it may be regions of sand or vast areas of rocks and gravel peppered with occasional plants. At global level, there are four types of deserts: Subtropical deserts (they are hot and dry throughout the year), Coastal deserts (cool winter and warm summer), Cold winter deserts and polar desert, where cold year-round. Due to the different climate and weather conditions in the deserts, the tourists are showing much interest to visit these places. Among the famous deserts at global level, Thar Desert in India is familiar destination among inbound international tourists as well as domestic tourists. The Thar Desert spread across Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat and Haryana states and Pakistan. The total extent of this Thar Desert is 4, 46,000 square kilometer and being the ninth largest tropical desert in the world, it is one of the most sought after place in India. It is observed that more than thirty lakhs of people are visiting the tourism attractions in Rajasthan and of which nearly one lakh foreign tourists are visiting Rajasthan tourism attractions. The research paper on Thar Desert Tourism in Rajasthan focuses on tourism elements, tourism attractions etc. It also made an attempt to find out the profile of the tourists visiting Thar Desert and their perception about the facilities and services
