Persian Gulf Oil Security: Development & Security Ramifications for the Asia-Pacific

Rapidly increasing global interdependence and understanding of what this process entails, gives rise to a need for a serious reevaluation of the old political and economic discourses in the field of international political economy. Any policy adopted by a government should be assessed not only on the basis of the way it operates according to its originally conceived purpose, but also how it affects systems and individuals far beyond its intended scope. Naïve or narrow interpretations of trends in international relations by decision-makers in one state may have negative repercussions on the stability of the current world political system, especially in its security and economic dimensions. Hence, proper coordination of each of our range of security, economic and political policies has to be prioritized by our leaders.
