چکیده مقاله Pathophysiology of Burn

Pathophysiology of burnBurn injuries are amongst the most devastating problems that their management is related to understanding their pathophysiology. Burn wound is considered a dynamic wound. This means burn wound can change in depth and width over time. Burnt area includes three zones. Zone I is located at the center and is irreversibly dead. Zone III is the most peripheral zone and is viable. Zone II is located between the two other zones. The viability of zone II is compromised. Hypotension, hypoxia, hypothermia, edema, topical vasoconstrictors, infection, topical ice can change zone II to zone I and make the wound wider and deeper. So careful care of burn patient since the incident is very important to limit wound depth and width . Early and enough hydration, prevention of over-hydration and edema formation, 100% O2 ( 15 lit/min) for suspicious respiratory burn, prevention of hypothermia, infusion of warm IV infusions, avoiding usage of topical vasoconstrictors on burn wound, prevent burn wound extension. Optional burn care is related to understanding burn pathophysiology and protecting zone II that should be started at the scene of injury and continued till wound healing.
