چکیده مقاله:

Background and Purpose of the study: Considering the significance of preeclampsia and its risks in mother and infant mortality, the present research aimed to investigate the effect of aspirin on preventing the occurrence of preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction and preterm birth in women with a prior history of preeclampsia. Materials and Methods: The present clinical trial was conducted on 86 patients who had a previous experience of preeclampsia visiting Khalij Fars Hospital in Bandar Abbas in 2017. The patients were randomly divided in two groups. The intervention group was treated with a daily amount of 80 mg of aspirin. Patient information was obtained and recorded upon entering the study, in the follow-up procedure while treated and upon childbirth. Results: Systolic blood pressure was increased in the aspirin group for 8.25±14.83 and in the control group for 19.06±18.33 (p=0.001). Diastolic blood pressure was raised in the aspirin group for 6.12±11.46 and in the control group for 13.48±13.95 (p=0.010). PLP was 14 and 2.3 percent in the intervention and control groups respectively (p=0.110) (OR=6.811, CI95%=0.783-59.213). Preeclampsia was estimated at 62.8 percent in the intervention group and 88.4% in the control (p=.006) (OR=0.22, CI95%=0.073-0.680). It can be concluded that aspirin intervention managed to decrease the occurrence rate of preeclampsia for about 22% in the intervention group as compared to the control. Conclusion: The present findings lead us to conclude that using aspirin has had a protective effect on the occurrence of preeclampsia in pregnant women with a history of at least one preeclampsia before. However, taking aspirin was reported to be accompanied by a higher rate of PLP and IUGR. Yet, the difference between the two groups with this concern was not statistically significant.
