چکیده مقاله:

Objective: We sought to compare the obstetrical and neonatal outcome of inpatients and outpatients who complicated by Preterm premature rupture of the membranes (PPROM).Method: In this non-randomized clinical trial study, 68 pregnant women referred to the Imam Reza Hospital, from April 2017 to August 2018 were enrolled. Pregnant women with the singleton pregnancy and gestational age between 25 to 34 weeks who had the feeling wetness or leaking the fluid from the vagina, admitted to hospital. 40 pregnant women hospitalized and were considered as inpatients and 28 pregnant women were in the outpatient group. The neonatal and maternal outcomes were compared. We analysed our data by Mann-Whitney, Chi-square and Fischer’s test.Result: There was a significant positive correlation between the GA in admission time of inpatients and outpatients but the GA at the delivery time was the same in two groups. The common cause of C/S was fetal distress although there was no correlation between the two groups. The mean vaginal leaking was 7.1 and 18.7 days in inpatients and outpatients, respectively. (P value<0.05) The mean neonatal weight and Apgar score was almost the same in the two groups. 55.9% of neonates needed to NICU. However, the cause of care in the inpatient group was preterm and/or RDS but in the outpatient group was preterm and RDS.Conclusion: The outpatient management in PPROM can be as safe as the inpatient. The risk factors should be assessed and the serial tests should be done.
