چکیده مقاله:

Ammonia is the most common pollutant discharged into water streams. The discharge of ammonia is generally from industrial, agricultural as well as domestic wastewater. Typically, industries such as food processing, rubber processing, textile and leather manufacturing, fertilizer plant, petrochemical industry and etc., emit a high level of ammonia concentration into water and environment. As a result, the influent which contains an undesirably high amount of ammonia will give rise to problems which detrimental to human health and the process of treatment. To reduce the presence of ammonia in water streams below the recommended standards of the World Health Organization (WHO), a European Environment Agency (EEA) and other local environmental authorities had motivated the researchers to develop methods for removal of ammonia. Therefore, the best adsorbent and method with respect to its efficiency, source, operational, environmental and economic aspects should be choosen. In this project, in order to removal ammonia from influent of Mobin Petrochemical wastewater, resin, Activated Carbon (AC) and Natural Zeolite were used. Three dose of ammonia (200, 400 and 560 mg/l) evaluated for every adsorbent. The best performance among adsorbents was for resin equal to 88% for 2 hour shaking with speed of 168 rpm at temperature room.
