Tensile properties of polypropylene fibers

Polypropylene (PP) is a widely applicable polymer and in order to improving the mechanical properties of its fibers, mineral additives are considered as a useful method. According to research, the sunlight is enough for the initial destruction. An Industrial Study is accomplished about the quantity changes of tensile properties of polypropylene fibers filled with 3% calcium carbonate in the environment conditions. Initially tensile properties of produced PP fibers are identified by tensile testing machine. Then they were exposed to the natural weather condition of Zahedan city in Iran for 2 months in summer. Tensile properties of samples and how to break the fibers checked and recorded, every week. The results showed a strong sunlight effect on fiber tensile properties. So its softness and tensile properties of fiber lost and became very fragile in less than a month.
