Rhizopus oryzae lipase was loaded on Fe3O4 superparamagnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and graphene oxide-Fe3O4 nanoparticles hybrid (GO@MNP) with electrostatic attractions. The nano-biocatalysts were used for fatty acid methyl esters production as a type of biodiesel from olive oil in a transesterification reaction. The structure and magnetic characteristics of the MNP and GO@MNP were evaluated using XRD and VSM techniques. Presence of GO in the support increased enzyme loading from 35 to 55.7%. The activity of ROL/GO@MNP was 2 times higher than ROL/MNP. In case of productivity, transesterification reaction of olive oil in presence of ROL/GO@MNP showed the highest production yields (61.8 wt.%).
