چکیده مقاله:

Back ground and Aim: The ABO blood group system was first discovered by Karl Landsteiner, who found different blood types. The antigens of the ABO system are expressed on RBC. Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018. Lung cancer is the most common cancer and leading cause of cancer death in the world about 1.76 million deaths.Search Method: We systematically reviewed the scientific article for published studies evaluating the association between ABO blood group and outcome in patients with lung cancer in various countries. The Medline, Pub Med, Google Scholar, Scopus, Springer electronic databases was searched without time limits and medical Subject Heading. As a result of this search, 98 complete articles were obtained. A final evaluation was carried out by a researcher and co-authored scholar, and finally 26 articles were selected that had the most relevance to the study subject. Results: Baseline characteristics of participants including age, smoking status, alcohol drinking, hypertension, diabetes, blood pressure and BMI in this study were highly similar across ABO blood groups. Our results showed that ABO blood group was associated with total cancer incidence. The cumulative incidence of lung cancer was significantly lower for the groups without presence of A antigen as compared to those groups with presence of A antigen. Patients with the blood type O or B had longer overall survival and disease free survival compared with those with the blood type A or AB.Conclusion: Articles reviewed confirmed the existence of people with O blood group has lower risk to getting lung cancer in conditions are almost the same. The association was statistically significant in the lung cancer with having A antigen on RBCs in men and them had shorter overall survival and disease free survival. According to researcher and co-authored scholar, we concluded that there is reliable link between the antigens on RBC of people with lung cancer in different places of residence of patients and research countries.
