A review of the antioxidant and anticancer effect of the Salvia plant on cancer treatment

Introduction: Cancer is one of the dangers of human life.People with it have lower living and quality of life goal.Medical plants because of thier lack of side effects can be a good alternative to coventional cancer treatments.The purpose of this article is to review the antioxidant and anticancer effect of the Salvia plant on cancer treatment.Methods: The peresent study is a review article that is conducted through regular search in the authoritative databases:SID,webscience,Pubmed with keywords: Salvia plant, antioxidant,anticancer,cancer treatment has been done from2009to2017. Results: Out of 60 articles,25articles in Persian and 35articles in English have been published.Of the retrieved results,40articles have been subject to review and categorization.The resultsof studies have shown that Salvia.multicoulis species can be considered az a drug indicator species in biochemical and biotechnological programs for the production of these drug comourds due to their high potential for the production and accumulation of anticancer tertphenoids.Salvia.ethiopian has a high content of Phenyl and antioxidant activity.Also in animal studies,in cancer with atumor marker the extract of Salvia plant with a suitable does can reduce the serum level of carcinogenic antigen.Conclusion: Az the cancer one of the problems of human life is it prevalence in the world,due to the lower side effects of medicinal plants than chemical drugs,so can use the Salvia plant,which has antioxidant and anticancer properties,to treat cancer.There fore,it is suggested that more research be done on the antioxidant and anticancer effects of this plant.
