چکیده مقاله:

Researchers are looking for effective medications to improve diabetic wounds. In this study, the effect of Caltropis procera ointment on the wound healing of diabetic rats was investigated. In this study, 30 male Wistar rats (250-180 g) were divided into 3 groups (n=10): negative control (no treatment), positive control (daily treatment with fibrinolysin), and treatment group (daily treatment with Calotropis procera ointment). In the back of the rat, the wound was a square-shaped with the size of 1.5 × 1.5 cm2 and its recovery was followed up daily. The area of the wound was measured at 5,7,14, 21 and 28 days with a staff gage and shot with a camera. Ultimately, the area and percentage of wound healing were calculated and Biopsies of the wounded areas were performed for histological evaluation tissue on the same days. The results showed that Calotropis procera ointment ointment can accelerate the healing process of cutaneous ulcers in treated rats and decrease the area of the wound. Treatment with fibrinolysin and Calotropis procera ointment increased the production of extracellular matrix and collagen fibers in the wound bed. Improvement and reduction of wound area in treatment groups with Calotropis procera ointment was better and faster (from day 14 to P <0.05) than other groups. Histological studies showed that wound epithelium repair with Calotropis procera ointment was better than other groups. Calotropis procera ointment compared to fibrinolysin, has a greater effect on wound healing. In general, based on the results obtained in this study, it is possible that Calotropis procera ointment can increase and accelerate the healing of diabetic wounds due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds by increasing epithelial cells and increasing the production of collagen.
