چکیده مقاله:
Giant clam is belonging to maxima and one of the commercial important species. It is live fossil belong to crustacea period of seventy million years ago. This species living in coral reefs of Gheshm Island and it attaches itself by mean of abyssal thread. The important abiotic parameters in giant calm population are type of sediment, water turbidity and PH. For this reasons eight stations (20 meter apart from each other) from shoreline at tourism area of Gheshm Island were studied. This survey was done in March and April of 2018. The statistical analysis for this study purposes was used by spss 19. Unfaourable abiotic factors such as muddy sediments, high turbidity and low PH have negative impacts on population in that the mean density in stations 1 to 5 were three (p> 0.05). Whereas with improving abiotic parameters in stations 6,7and 8 the mean density were increased to six (p<0.05). The results of the present study indicated that thet human activities such as engine motor boat traffic, the various wastes dump by tourism and drainage waste from salt water purifications to freshwater in area (golden beach have caused destructions of giant clam habitat and if this marine area not protect in the near future we witness the extinction if the mostvaluable species
