Study of Industrial Production in Iran, Using Listed Companies’ Information

There is strong co-dependency between production in the industrial sector and production in all other sectors of an economy. Since gathering information from allsectors of an economy is time-consuming process, an index known as Industrial production Index (IP) is being published in many economies, as an indicator ofcurrent economic condition. Because there is no such an index or similar indices in Iranian economy, agents or policy makers do not have much information about thestate of the economy. In this research, industrial production index is constructed using information of listed companies in Tehran Stock Exchange. In order to evaluate thisindex, we compared the results with an index of total industrial production. Results show that this index is good indicator of total industrial production index.
