Case Report of Congenital Leukemia AML-M1

Congenital leukemia (CL) is an exceedingly uncommon disease in the newborn and is usually diagnosed at birth or within one month of life(1).it presents diagnostic dilemma as clinical manifestations are similar to sepsis. It is very rare disease and is seen in one per five million birth(2) Congenital leukemia (CL) is term applied to leukemia diagnosed at birth or within the first month of life. we report one case of congenital Leukemia AML-M1 in days old Iranian newborn in 25/11/2017 that presented with lethargy, poor sucking and petechiae, features suggestive of sepsis. Septic work up was negative. Peripheral smear revealed hyperleukocytosis, thrombocytopenia and presence of atypical cells.Bone marrow aspiration sample revealed increased myeloblast. other causes of leukemoid reaction were ruled out and final diagnosis of congenital leukemia (AML-M1) was made and chemotherapy with Cytosar 20 mg/mL IV, Etoposide 10mg IV and Cytosar 7.5mg IT was begin for him.
