Strategies for promoting community knowledge in the field of traditional medicine from the viewpoints of medical students of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, autumn 2018

Introduction: Traditional medicine is collection of theoretical sciences that help us to diagnose, prevent and treat mental and physical illnesses.There has been long history in Iran in this field, and prominent scientists emerged in this science whose works were taught by the largest scientific centers in the world.Despite this brilliant record, this treatment is in the back of the country, and more action is needed in this area. Method: This is cross-sectional study. sample of 50 medical students of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences were selected randomly and based on the list of students in the department of education.None of them had passed the traditional medicine course. The data were analyzed by SPSS16 software using descriptive statistics. The data collection tool was questionnaire whose validity was confirmed by reviewing similar studies. Results: 76% of participants believe that traditional medicine methods can be used in modern medicine. They are the main causes of people referral to this method of treatment as new medical restriction in treating some diseases, costs and fewer complications of this treatment and also availability. They know it they emphasized that the practice of traditional medicine services should be monitored by the Ministry of Health and by experienced and licensed people. Conclusion: One of the reasons for the lack of attention paid by physicians to this method of treatment is the lack of adequate scientific evidence regarding its effects on the treatment of diseases. Further studies on its long-term effects and the dissemination of research results in the form of national guidelines and the need for physicians to comply with it, It will be effective in developing this therapeutic approach Providing regular training courses for physicians and promoting traditional medicine methods in the media, as well as the provision of traditional medicine services under the cover of insurance, can help spread this valuable knowledge in the country.
