Breast cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide. The incidence and mortality of breast cancer varies in different societies. Factors such as age, sex, race, socio-economic, geographical location and lifestyle are included in this diversity. The combination of hormonal factors, genetic and environmental factors can also increase the risk of developing breast cancer. Unfortunately, the outbreak spreading in Iran is unknown. It appears to be more at an earlier age and at the age of outbreaks in Iran and in other Asian countries is lower than a decade age from Western countries And is diagnosed at a higher stage that this could be due to lower education and socioeconomic level, less access to medical facilities and lack of appropriate screening programs in these countries. Now women under 40 years are not in the breast cancer screening program. So most of the cases discovered when breast examination by themselves or their expression when assessed by a general practitioner. The aim of this study was Evaluation of change in the demographic and histopathologic characteristics of patients with breast cancerat the begining and the end of the decade, referred to Mashhad University of Medical Sciences Method: After designing the list, necessary data was including: demographic characteristics , risk factors, pathology, surgery and … .By using the information recorded in the records of 180 patients with breast cancer since1382 to 1392 in Ghaem training centers of Mashhad, has recorded, by using spss software were analyzed and the results were presented in the form of descriptive and analytical statistics. Results: From 180 patients under study, 83 patients in 1382 and 97 patients in 1392 had been admitted. The average age in 1382 was 49.08 years and 46.44 years in 1392 (p = 0.131). Other demographic characteristics such as education level, marital status, employment was similar in patients in two years. Older age at first pregnancy and reduce the number of term pregnancy as risk factors in patients in 1392 showed an increase (P = 0.017 and P = 0.00). But other risk factors include a history of OCP, and a positive family history was similar in the two years. The most common type of pathology in both groups was invasive ductal and the most common type of surgery was radical mastectomy. The most common cancer stage at diagnosis Shelling in terms of the average size of the mass was statistically significant difference between the two groups (p=0.028), but the stage in both group was the same (p = 0.423). Conclusion: It seems that despite a decade, despite the increasing prevalence of known risk factors for breast cancer such as increased age of first pregnancy and reduced number of pregnancy, however, the patients at advanced stages with complaints of lumps in their breast are being diagnosed. Altoghether it necessitates special attention to public education programs and a modification in breast cancer screening methods and developing a national programe as well.
