چکیده مقاله:

It has long been found out that Ti-rich deposits have confronted a decline in the resource. This, in turn, has oriented the researchers’ works towards extracting Ti from low Ti-grade deposits. A large number of such unexploited low-grade titanomagnetite deposits have been found in Iran, from which it has been worthwhile to extract Ti. Hereupon, in the current study, the beneficiation of Ti from such a concentrate, which had been subjected to the solid state reduction and magnetic separation, has been investigated through the leaching process to remove the impurities from the concentrate. This has been carried out by using acidic media with different concentrations. In fact, dissolution of the main unwanted elements present in the concentrate has developed the main aim of the current study, through which Ti, itself, remained untouched. The results of this study demonstrated that Ti beneficiation follows a trend with change in acid concentration, where an optimum condition for beneficiation was obtained as well; increasing the acid concentration caused Ti dissolution to increase continuously, however, its influence was not the same at various concentrations i.e. increasing the acid concentration from 10 to 20 wt.%, has not abide the rule proposed in this study which is probably contributed to the different behaviors of alkaline oxides in the leaching media with different pH.
