چکیده مقاله:

Background and objective:Morphological awareness (MA) refers to the ability to manipulation of morphemes consciously thatis the smallest meaningful language unit. MA develops by gradual exposure to words and morphemes in different contexts. Dyslexic students perform weaker than normal readers in the morphological awareness ability. In Iran don’t exist any task or standardized test for assessment of morphological awareness, therefore the major aim of current study would be developing morphological awareness test and comparison between normal and dyslexia group in this ability.Materials and methods: In this current study, 20 dyslexic and 34 normal students participated. The first step of this study was developing a morphological awareness test and Content validity and Test retest reliability was calculated. Second step of study was comparison between dyslexia and normal readers in MA ability. For diagnosis of dyslexia was used from teacher questionnaire and NAMA reading and dyslexia test. In the evaluation process NAMA test for reading assessment and MA test for morphological knowledge assessment were used. Data, analyzed by one sample Kolmogorov Smirnov Test and independent t-test and Mann-Whitney test.Findings:Content validity of MA test was obtained 0/94 and test retest reliability showed that just 3 tasks were reliable (P-Value<0/05). Independent t-test and Mann-Whitney test showed that there are statistically significant differences between normal and dyslexia group in the MA skill (P-Value<0/05). But don’t exist significant differences between two grades in the both groups (P-Value> 0/05).Conclusion: MA test were developed and content validity and test retest reliability were obtained. Dyslexic students performed weaker than normally developing readers in the MA test, but performance of third and fourth graders in the both groups was similar.
