Validity And Reliability Of The Persian Version Of The Scale o Attitudes Toward Persons With Disability

Background and purpose: The health care system is obliged required to provide equal quality health care services to people with disabilities. The attitude of health professionals in providing standardized services to people with disabilities has a significant impact on the quality of health care services. The purpose of this study is the evaluation psychometric properties of the Scale of Attitudes Toward Disabled Persons , which by reviewing the attitudes of health professionals, health services can be improved to these people Materials and methods: Initially, the questionnaire was translated into Persian. Relative content validity coefficient was investigated in order to verify the reliability of the questionnaire, 52 health professionals participated in this study. The questionnaires were completed twice within 10 days by participants. Internal consistency and the reliability of the test-retest were determined by calculating the cronbach’s alpha coefficient and the intra-class correlation coefficient, respectively.Results: calculation of CVR from 24 items, the presence of 22 items in the questionnaire were confirmed. Cronbach s alpha was calculated to measure internal consistency for two scales: 1. Optimism 2. Pessimism / Behavior were to be 0.70 and 0.65, respectively. Intra-class correlation coefficient was used for examining test-retest reliability for both scales of 0.71 and 0.69, respectively.Conclusion: this study proved the Persian version of SAPD has good content validity and internal consistency for evaluation of the attitude toward people with disabilities. Test-retest reliability was average due to the nature of attitude evaluation. SADP, along with other tools could be appropriate tool for evaluation of attitude toward person with disability.
